Sports betting regulators in Arizona are setting the schedule for its launch
A quick start is expected for Arizona Sports betting when the state begins its rulemaking process.
Less than a week after that Governor Doug Ducey signed HB 2772 and amended tribal treaties to allow sports betting in Arizona, the state Games Department outlined his startup process Wednesday. Ducey signed the bill April 15th after a legislative process that at one point seemed doomed to failure.
Sports betting legislation, sponsored by Sen. TJ Shope and Jeff Weninger MPwas required to complete the contracts negotiated by the governor and the tribes. The existing compacts ran out 2022.
ADG gets to work
The bill was passed with an emergency status to expedite the AZ sports betting launch. The legislators have set a starting target for the football kick-off NFL betting.
Regulators are working to determine license fees, final tax rates, and types of wagers that are allowed in the state.
“The department is already working hard to develop rules and procedures to ensure the safety of the Arizona betting public as we plan to implement event and fantasy sports betting in the coming months,” said ADG director Ted Vogt said in the publication.
Sports betting start timeline in Arizona
The start of AZ Sportsbook is working on two schedules. One is for the tribal state gaming compacts and the other is for creating rules for sports betting.
The tribal treaties were the Federal Ministry of the Interior – – Indian Gaming Bureau on April 16. The office has 45 Days for Review and Approval.
From there it goes to Federal Register, she has 90 Days to officially release the compact.
After Ducey’s signature on the emergency invoice, the ADG has one 60– –Day legal obligation to develop rules.
Then there is a public comment period. After a public statement, there is an amendment deadline.
Once these steps are completed, the department is preparing for the start date. The department has not yet set a start date.
What will sports betting look like in Arizona?

The licenses cover both retail and online sports betting. The legislators also legalized the daily fantasy sport.
Two operators have already announced their entry into the market: DraftKings and FanDuel. DraftKings signed a partnership with TPC Scottsdale, while FanDuel stepped in with that Phoenix Suns. Executives of The score and BetMGM Both mentioned the state in recent investor presentations.
